Meet The Owners

Boarding can be stressful! That's what I (Tiffany) found several years ago when I tried to find the perfect place to board my best four-legged friend, Brutus. He was rehomed to us at 4 years old and quickly became very attached to me. Leaving the house for 5 minutes or 4 hours had the same results: He constantly moaned and howled loud enough for concerned neighbors to hear. This wasn't just for a few minutes, this was for hours at a time!

Months would go into research looking for the perfect place to board him before we would go out of town. Although I found a decent place or two, I was never able to find the "perfect" place... A place that felt home-like and not "cold" with rows and rows of chain-link fence kennels. A place that felt like he was cared about and not just a number. A place that didn't mind if someone asked a whole lot of questions or wanted a tour before sending their fur-baby there for a week or more. I saw a need for our area. Surely, if I wanted these things when boarding Brutus, others wanted the same when boarding their dogs!

As I researched, I could hardly believe there were boarding facilities across the country with kennel webcams and personal TVs! Some had rugs and full-size furniture in kennels. Some offered bedtime stories, special treats, and other extra amenities for those that like to spoil their pups. Where were those places around here? I needed one for Brutus! WE needed one for all of our beloved pets! From there, the concept of The Bark Park Resort, LLC was born.

After another year and a half of planning and scheming, I soon quit a full-time career as a bedside RN at a local hospital to care for something a little different; wingless angels with fur and four legs. With more help and support than I could ever try to repay or thank him for from my husband, Douglas, The Bark Park Resort, LLC officially opened in June of 2021. It's been a whole lot of work and definitely a learning process (as it always will be), but I don't regret it for a second.

No, we're probably not the "perfect" boarding facility I was originally looking for. I doubt any place would be. Being a smaller, family-type facility, we might not jump to answer the phone on the first ring or have the most flexible hours available, but we do guarantee your pet will be loved and cared for just as we would want ours to be.

Brutus has passed on now. He got to make new friends at The Bark Park Resort for a good year or so before losing a battle to cancer. Now, you may see (or hear!) our other unruly pups when you visit. Doc and Annie are loud, wild, and all bark... appropriate for a Bark Park, right? Our grandson, Remi, helps out several days a week as well. As you can see, his definition of "helping" will need a little clarification on his next evaluation.

If you're looking for a different boarding experience or just have questions about the process, feel free to give us a call. We'd love for you to check us out!
