  • Do you offer doggie daycare services?
We do not offer daycare services at this time. We do offer day-boarding should you need a place to keep your dog during the day from 8am to 5pm. This service is based on kennel availability and is not available on holidays, including the day before or the day after.

  • Can my pet bring personal toys and bedding?
Your pet is allowed to bring his/her own bedding, blanket, and 1-2 toys. The Bark Park Resort is not responsible for damaged items caused by your pet, nor are we responsible for any medical issues that might arise should your pet eat/ingest any personal items you choose to keep in their kennel. Pets are not always monitored while in their kennels. Our facility is not staffed overnight. If you are concerned your pet may eat a toy or other non-food personal item, DO NOT BRING IT. Let’s keep our pups safe! We will make every effort to keep items clean and intact. We have chew-proof, elevated Kuranda cots available to use free of charge. Blankets are available for non-chewers by request. Likewise, we also have plush, MyPillow Pet Beds available for use by request. Should you request to use a MyPillow Pet Bed provided by The Bark Park Resort that subsequently becomes destroyed by your pet, there will be an additional $35.00 fee charged to your final boarding payment.
  • Will my dog get to play with other dogs?
Possibly. This will depend on several factors. First of all, we'll need your permission for this. If you already know your dog doesn't need to be out with other dogs, then we'll make sure they are out alone. Next, it will depend on the variety of dogs we have to test your dog with. Being a smaller facility, sometimes we are super busy, sometimes we only have a few dogs. If the size variety isn't right (maybe your dog is small and all of the others are large), they may not get to play with a friend this time around. Also, it will depend a lot on your dog. Keep in mind, boarding is often stressful for dogs. Especially if it's a new place! If your pup is already on edge and showing anxiety, we might not chance putting them in an even more stressful situation with new, strange dogs they don't know. Your dog will act differently in a boarding environment without you present. They may be fine with you in their neighborhood or their local dog park when they greet other dogs. You're their person and their security! Away from you and in a new environment can bring out insecurities which could quickly escalate to fights. We don't like to take chances or risk the safety of any dogs or staff. Accidents can and do happen, but it is never for lack of caution on our part.
  • What are your vaccine requirements?
Required vaccinations should be given at least one week prior your pet's arrival date to ensure proper protection. The following vaccinations must be up to date and verified by documentation from your veterinarian: Dogs: Rabies (Puppy Booster, 1 Year, and then Every 3 Years or as recommended by your veterinarian) DHPP (Puppy Shot Series, 1 Year, and then Every 3 Years or as recommended by your veterinarian) Bordetella (Every 6-12 Months, as recommended by your veterinarian)
  • Should I bring food and treats for my pet?
The Bark Park Resort, LLC encourages our clients to arrive with their own personal food and treats. This minimizes the risk of your fur-baby having an upset tummy while boarding. If possible, please provide food and treats measured in daily portions in Ziplock (sealable bags) or plastic containers with lids. Unopened canned food may be left in the original container. This will help ensure we are feeding our boarders with the appropriate portion sizes they require at home. If you do not wish to provide food, we will provide your dog with dry food for a rate of $4.00/day. Treats are allowed if your pet does not have to be monitored while chewing them. We highly discourage bones, rawhide, or other items that could splinter or cause digestive problems for your pet while boarding. Please note that all food and treats must be in a sealable container (Ziplock, Tupperware, etc.) to prevent infestation. This is a requirement per NC Kennel Laws. Food will be turned away if the appropriate container is not provided.
  • Do you allow intact dogs?
Dogs that are intact (not spayed/neutered) will be allowed to stay at The Bark Park Resort. Intact females actively in heat will not be permitted to have contact with other dogs. Intact males may be unable to socialize with other boarding clients if aggression is shown, as determined by staff.
  • Do you allow puppies to board?
Due to the extra attention puppies need throughout the day, we do not currently accept dogs under six months of age. Sorry for any inconvenience, but this allows us to give the appropriate attention and care to all of our boarders.
  • Can you administer medications during my pet's stay?
Oral, topical, and injectable medications will be administered up to twice per day as closely as possible to your pet's regular schedule. There is no fee for the first two daily administrations. Each additional administration time has an associated fee of $2.00. Due to the nature of sensitivity and possible adverse reactions, Insulin will not be administered to boarders in our care.
  • What kind of grooming do you provide?
Exit baths are available and include shampoo, conditioner (if needed), towel/fan/blow dry, simple brush out (unless matted), ear clean, nose balm, and cologne spritz. Pricing is as follows: Stay 5 nights, $20.00 for ANY size dog. Short-Hair < 50 Lbs., $25.00 Long-Hair < 50 Lbs., $35.00 Short-Hair > 50 Lbs., $30.00 Long-Hair > 50 Lbs., $40.00 Please note that dogs will be refused if they are aggressive or become highly stressed, are matted, or are in need of a more detailed groom than our staff can accommodate as we do not employee a full time groomer at this time. As always, let us know if your pup has any skin allergies or sensitivities we should know about. We do not offer nail trims at this time.
  • What is the flea/tick policy?
Pets should be treated with flea/tick prevention products before arrival to The Bark Park Resort.  Likewise, all personal effects (bedding, toys, etc.) should also be flea/tick free. Animals are inspected on the day of arrival and will be treated for any infestations at the owner’s expense. Treatment includes a bath with flea-killing shampoo and washing of all bedding and toys. There will be a $10.00 convenience fee PLUS an additional Bath Fee based on the size of your dog. This fee will be added to your invoice and payment will be due at the time of pick-up.
  • Can I walk my dog to their kennel and get them "set up" before I leave?
If you'd like to see our kennels and exactly where your dog will be staying, we highly encourage you to call ahead and schedule a tour before bringing your dog in for their boarding appointment. Although we believe in transparency and want you to feel comfortable with what takes place "behind the scenes", due to insurance liability reasons, we aren't always able to let clients follow us back to the kennels at any given time. We may have water spills, floor fans in use, dogs being brought in from the play yard, or other obstructions that can cause injury. Putting those obstacles aside, a lingering "Goodbye" is also very difficult for your pet. If you are anxious, tearful, and sad, they will feel that energy and think something is wrong. (Think of dropping a child off at daycare or kindergarten for the first time. An, "Alright Buddy, I'll be back to pick you up later," followed by you promptly walking out is so much easier on your kid than a long, holding-on-to-your-pants-leg while screaming departure!) In fact, you'd be surprised at the number of dogs that whine until their owner walks out of view, only to turn around and instantly be ready to play. It happens every day!
  • What if my pet needs emergency medical treatment?
In the event we believe your pet may need the care of a veterinarian, you will be notified as soon as possible. If we believe your pet is stable, we will make every effort to contact you or your emergency contact person before seeking professional medical attention. If we feel your pet has a medical emergency, we will act on your behalf to seek medical care if you or your emergency contact are unavailable. Medical care may be provided for your pet(s) by their veterinarian if available and within 25 miles of The Bark Park Resort. An appropriate alternate may be determined by The Bark Park Resort in the event that your regular veterinarian is not available or that a closer veterinarian or emergent care is required. Clients will be responsible for reimbursement to The Bark Park Resort, LLC for any charges related to emergency care, including office visits, exams, procedures, medications, surgeries, and consultations.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
A deposit fee equivalent to the first night of boarding will be received at the time of booking. Deposit becomes non-refundable if the booking is not canceled at least 3 days (72 hours) prior to scheduled arrival. All remaining charges must be paid at the time of pick up via cash or credit card. No checks accepted. For boarders staying more than 7 days, a weekly payment will be charged to the credit card on file every 7 days. We require a 24-hour notice to pick up your pet earlier than the date originally scheduled or you will be charged for the night they are picked up.
  • Abandonment
All payments must be rendered at the time of pet pick-up. In the event that you are unable to pick up your pet at the appointed time, every effort should be made to contact The Bark Park Resort, LLC to reschedule a pick-up. Should an owner not show/not call to inform The Bark Park Resort, LLC of the need to reschedule the pick-up to a later time, the animal will be considered abandoned. We will make every effort to contact owner and the provided emergency contact via the information provided within the client's record. Should we be unable to establish contact and/or the owner refuse to pick up their pet, the boarded pet will be submitted to animal control when the elapsed time of 7 days has passed.
